Objectives:

Introduction to the concepts, results, techniques and applications of algebraic computation, the Gröbner bases and the study of algorithms used for calculus and for the most frequent applications.

Knowledge:

• Combinatorial structure of the polynomial ring.
• Gröbner bases, Buchberger's algorithm.
• Elimination of variables: invariant theory and codes.
• Robotics: inverse kinematics problem.
• Systems of equations with parameters; control of electric networks.

Subject-specific competences:

To be able to design models that can be studied and manipulated with theoretical-computational tools as introduced in the unit.
